the Edison

The Edison at Disney Springs, is an industrial-chic, 1920s-themed restaurant & nightclub serving contemporary American fare, cocktails, and timeless entertainment.  The management had expressed a desire to incorporate merchandise into their future events. Their initial plan was to start out with the upcoming Mixology Series event. They wanted a illustrative style that would be instantly recognizable as the Edison, to be featured on t-shirts and posters. However, the timeline was tight. The first event was scheduled to take place in less than six weeks, and they needed the final illustration within three weeks.
Style Inspiration

The main goal for The Edison was to find an illustrative look that would be instantly recognizable to the brand. Other direction given was to find something in the world of art deco. I looked through popular works of artist such as Erté, Cassandre, and Tamara de Lempicka. But in my research I found the works of more recent illustrators, the Balbusso Twins, to be perfect inspiration for shaping The Edison's style.
My Final Illustration

This is where I left off with the product. After the illustrative files were handed off to Patina Restaurant Group's designers, I do not claim any layout decisions made after. What is shown is my work.
