The Project

After helping complete the successful Kickstarter Campaign for the film, Onyx the Fortuitous and the Talisman of Souls, I was brought on as one of the designers for the film. My job was to design the in universe brand for the films' antagonist, Bartok the Great. Designing his logo, album art, posters, book covers, and more.
Disclaimer: Satanic imagery used is purely for comedic/story telling purposes. The film does not promote Satanism and I ask that any prejudices towards it not be applied to me.
Logo Design
Bartok's logo is primarily meant for his past musical endeavors in the film. It is used on his album covers and posters. Inspired by 80s Rock Bands, it hands a hand-drawn gothic type.
Actor Jeffrey Combs
The films' director, Andrew Bowser, wanted a big name for Bartok. Since this was an independent film, finding a big name was a challenge, and delayed filming for almost a year after post production started. I still worked on design planning in the meantime. He ended up locking down Jeffrey Combs in role. Unfortunately there was only a week between his casting and when some designs were needed for the filming. So, I had to fill in for his body and do a bit of face replacements to meet the deadline.
Oboe Album Cover Design
Concept to Final
The album art was an inspired parody of Meat Loafs' Bat Out of Hell album cover. I had planned this layout well before his passing. It is in reference to the films' cover and parody of the "I’d Do Anything for Love" music video. The setting of the art serves as foreshadowing to the films' climax. Where our protagonist, Onyx, has a epic battle against Bartok, as hell opens up between the ground of the cemetery.
How to Turn Your Cat Into A Satanist Book Cover Design
Luckily for me and the film, my wife has our room decorated in gothic décor. I made myself a little set in a corner of the room, a cloak because it was the middle of March and took some pictures. The cats' name is Gremmy Boi. The director rescued him during the Kickstarter and was a fan favorited of the livestreams. His inclusion is a fun Easter egg to the backers that followed the campaign.
Set Photos
I worked remotely, so this is as good of a on set photo that I have right now, sent from the art director.
The LA Shoot, I Finally Have Pictures!
All the settings for the main plot was filmed in Lenox, Massachusetts, in the Ventfort Hall Mansion and Gilded Age Museum. For the films' opening scenes, Onyx's home and job, are being filmed in LA, California. For the LA shoot the director, Andrew Bowser, needed me to finish the final Bartok memorabilia designs. Posters, album cover, and VHS sleeve. This time we finally had photos of Jeffrey Combs as Bartok the Great, provided by Justin Allen.

The final two posters that will hang in the room of the films' protagonist, Onyx.  The posters did end up getting alternative versions of the logo design. The alternative Scarlet Logo became my favorite.

The director was not sure which cover would look best on camera, so there are two final designs for the album jacket. At this time, I do not know which album cover will be used in the film. The shoot is later in June.

In His Unplanned Backers Cameo
Well, just when I thought I was done with this job, the director asked if I could do one more album cover to include cameos for some top tier backers. This was just a couple days before filming would pick up again, so it was needed quick. Looked through all the photos of the backers and luckily all of them had a pose looking up in awe that I could direct towards Bartok. All but KreatureKid, Adam Dougherty, they chose to look right into my eyes and laugh at me. That mischievous grin, mocking me, not allowing me to present a perfect narrative.
Anyways, we were able to create the album cover for the backers cameos. For storytelling purposes, the backers were once Bartok's Satanic Choir that sang on the album, "In His Unholy Name."
