Rebranding Rocket Chimp
Rocket Chimp is an amazing creative agency located in Orlando, FL. They brought me on in summer of 2022, and I have been grateful for the opportunities they've given me and the cool people I've gotten to work with. During my time here the company had gone through a small re-brand and I'm glad that I got to contribute to their new look.
Mascot Redesign
The main goal for redesigning Lobo, Rocket Chimps Mascot, was to make him easier to animate and pose for social media post. We wanted Lobo to be more versatile and show more character throughout our post.
I began the redesign by seeing how far we wanted to simplify his face. We decided face "D" with a slightly shorter beard was the way to go. We liked the expressions we could make with the simplified brow line. Once the face was decided I built the body around that design. Lobo's orange space suit stayed mostly the same, just with a few less pockets, and I gave him proportions closer to a real chimpanzee.
Logo Redesign
For the logo redesign we wanted to add more than we wanted to take away. The wordmark did lose its serifs but we added a new mark that incorporated our mascot, Lobo. The idea for the new mark came from our art director, Jose Monsalve. It was cleaned up a bit from the original concept and once I created the new look for Lobo, we decided to use the same face design for the logo mark. I illustrated the new face and we put it to the final lockup.
